***(TLDR: Help me pick my next images to mint here)
Reader, I got hacked. I lost eth, I lost my minted photos and I lost a little faith in humanity. OK, that’s probably overly dramatic (it was mostly gone anyway). Still, I learned a tough lesson that I guess I needed to learn, and that stings.
Here’s what happened. A lot of crypto projects operate their own Discords (private chat groups) and in one of these Discords, I clicked a link out to a project and authenticated with my wallet. These are two big no-no’s and I knew better but did it anyway for some dumb reason. Of course, this wasn’t a legit link I clicked, it was a phishing link set up by hackers. Immediately and unbeknownst to me, the hackers took the cryptocurrency in my wallet. I only realized later that my wallet was compromised when I moved more coin into my wallet and it immediately disappeared.
You can read all about this kind of hack over on Verge.
This was especially painful because it means that I had to immediately stop using my Metamask wallet which is the same wallet I’d used to mint my images on the blockchain. So I also lost access to these images and therefore the gas fees I paid to mint.
The upside? It’s given me a second to relaunch my work on the blockchain and be deliberate about what images to share and set them up for successful auctions. This is where you come in.
Help me pick my next images to mint.
My plan is to mint one image one Foundation and a larger collection on OpenSea (where the fees are lower and the community is larger). I want your help. I set up a brief poll (****CLICK HERE****) where you can see the images and quickly vote on the ones you like. You can see larger versions of the images in this Dropbox folder).
For some additional background, the collection is comprised of low-light/blue hour-type photos. Some are long exposures. Some are abstract. They are quieter and darker than my Swim Call series. These are images I’ve been making for the better part of the last ten years and they reflect some of my favorite work.
Let me know what you think and don’t click that Discord link (ever)!
Thanks!
John
