Today I’m sharing some big news from the homefront with you.
I’ve launched my own creative studio (think of it as my greatest hits album). With 15+ years of experience as a journalist and creative marketer, I decided now was the time to go solo. Why?
A few reasons:
Creative thinking and strategy are more in demand than ever. Ok, that’s totally subjective, but I believe it’s true. Hear me out. With all the static from social media, superficial influencer posts, lame-ass banner ads and lazy advertising, good creative ideas are worth a lot and are the best way for brands to break through the noise. Just look at Liquid Death, Tracksmith, Cash App and Oatly. These are just a few brands built on great creative content (and good product). There are many examples though, and I’d argue that the brands we like the most understand the need for good creative more than anyone.
It’s a golden moment for creatives. A couple of silver linings of the pandemic include a new willingness (or need) for companies to hire creative freelancers/permalancers and the normalizing of remote work. These two factors have converged to create a unique moment for creatives to be able to collaborate with global brands in novel ways that weren’t as possible a few years ago.
I’ve earned it. Over the last 15+ years, I’ve been able to work with a ton of smart brands to create a portfolio of work I’m really proud of. I’ve also had a front-row seat inside the sales/marketing arms of a few great media organizations to gain a unique perspective and expertise on strong content is made and distributed. I’ve learned that great content is only as good at the methods used to distribute it, and I’m uniquely capable of helping brands do both.
So where to now? I’m open for business. I’ll be leaning heavily into B2C companies, many in the luxury, lifestyle, outdoor and apparel, travel, and fitness spaces, but media is my DNA and I’ll always be looking to collaborate with media and tech startups as well as mission-driven organizations.
If your brand needs help developing a creative strategy, producing and distributing content, or striking creative partnerships that feel right and are effective, please hit me up.
All the best John, I'm happy for you.
